Brooklyn {Eleven Months}

Say it ain't so? How can we really be nearing her first birthday? Bennett's first year went by fast, but wow Brooklyn's went by that much faster. I don't really think of her this old. I still feel like she is so little. But, maybe that is how it will always be, our baby girl.

I have started to plan her party. I am so excited for her to turn one, but also so sad. Bennett FELT like a one year old. Brooklyn just doesn't feel (almost) one to me.

Length, Weight, and Percentiles: No updates here. We have her 12 month appt. next month. She seems to be average sized, but my kids always have the littlest feet.

Features: 7 teeth, with another 1 or 2 popping through. Bennett hardly had 2 teeth but she has been a champ. Still no hair and no signs of it growing in either. We are going to have a party the first time I am able to put some pig tails or pony tail in this girls hair. But, at this rate, it won't be until she is 8 years old. Brooklyn has the cheesiest grin and can almost always be found smiling. She wakes up smiling and goes to bed smiling, she is literally the happiest girl in the world. Such joy! Who can blame her?!

Clearly, neither kid wanted to actually look at the camera. The struggle is real

Sleep: Going to sleep between 7 and 7:30 PM and sleeping 12 hours. She typically wakes up at 7 AM (or earlier if we wake her). She naps twice a day, one 2 hour morning nap and one 2-3 hour afternoon nap.

Diet: She loves loves loves fruit, yogurt, applesauce, puffs, basically anything sweet. She also still likes peas and carrots most. She is a bit more apprehensive about veggies. She usually eats whatever we have for dinner but would rather be fed than eat herself, although if she just sits in her high chair, she will slowly eat it and play with it. She tends to spit alot of food out at first, but once she gets used to it, she will eat. She is also eating 7 ounces of formula 2-3 times a day. She is slowly transitioning away from bottles and formula and expect to transition her fully to whole milk by the time she is one.

Clothes and Diapering: Still fitting into some 6-9 month clothes, but mostly wearing 9 month and 12 month clothes. She rarely wears shoes, but when she does they are 6-12 month Old Navy shoes (I am not even sure what size those correlate to, 2?) Wearing size 3 and 4 diapers during the day and night.

Social: She is so happy and easily excitable. She is repeating sounds, but not sure she has attached meaning yet. She can repeat "Dada" "No No" and "Mama." She thinks it is absolutely hilarious when I say "No No" because she knows it is something she shouldn't be doing, so that is one I think she understands. She also repeats "Dada" around Josh, so I also think she might be getting that one too. Other than that, mostly just babble, but adorable babble!

Brooklyn loves to dance, play peek a boo, bounce, run up and down the stairs, play outside, go on walks, bang together toys, and explore. She can usually be found investigating outlets, or anything plugged into outlets, under the table, trying to get into our wine rack, or attempting to climb stairs. She has become quite curious this past month and now crawling so well that she can get just about anywhere. We also have to remind Bennett to keep the basement door shut since she tends to want to look over the stairs down to him.

She is also already noticeably more sensitive, but also so tough. Depends on the situation and/or how tired she is.

Some of the new things Brooklyn is doing this month: Repeating No no, climbing stairs, Standing for seconds on her own, walking behind her walker,

Likes: Blocks, building towers, puzzles, exploring, banging things together, dropping food/toys from up high and watching them drop, her fuzzy blanket, books

Dislikes: being left with a stranger, new people, hats

Brooklyn {Nine and Ten Months}

Woops! Completely missed a 9 month update. Actually, once I realized I missed it, we were already so close to 10 months, that I just let it slide. Brooklyn turned 9 months a few days after Christmas. With the holiday and the busy-ness, I just forgot......oh well.

9 and 10 months have not proven to be much different though. Miss Brookie started crawling, consistently, right around Christmas which is the biggest update. She really didn't care much about presents, or wrapping paper, or Santa. She did not like sitting on his lap much at all though!

Length, Weight, Percentiles: Brooklyn visited the Pediatrician right around Christmas for her 9 month check up. She weighed 18 lbs 7 oz. and was 27.5 inches long. She is in the 55th percentile for weight and the 45th percentile for length.

Features: She is up to 7 teeth now. 4 top teeth and 3 bottom teeth. Her 4 top teeth sprouted all at the same time and she handled it like a champ. She still has very little hair, and has to rock a headband on that bald little head of hers consistently. I just want her to have some hair! It appears to be dirty blonde though, what I can see of it.

Sleep: Brooklyn is sleeping through the night consistently now. She occasionally wakes up in the middle of the night but after whining for a few minutes, puts herself back to sleep. She typically goes to bed around 7 PM and sleeps until we wake her up at 6:45 AM on weekdays or until 7-7:30 AM on weekends. She naps twice a day, typically for 2 hours. Her morning nap is around 2-3 hours after she wakes up in the morning and then her afternoon nap is around 1 PM, after lunch. She sucks her thumb to put herself to sleep and it is just the sweetest to see her sucking on it! Most mornings I find her sleeping on her chest, with her little butt up in the air. I just love that! Occasionally, she will fall asleep sitting up, hunched over with her head in between her legs. It looks awful, but it doesn't bother her at all!

Diet: Brooklyn will eat what we have for dinner most nights. She much rather prefers us to feed her over feeding herself. Lazy girl. She tends to be quite picky and not open to trying new things. Some of the foods she loves are veggies (peas, carrots, corn, green beans, avocado), fruits (strawberries, blueberries, mandarin oranges, bananas-occasionally). She prefers food that has sauce or more flavor to it over just plain noodles, chicken, or ground beef. She still loves baby food and if we have something spicy or something she won't eat, she will always gobble up baby food. She is eating 6-7 ounces of formula 4 times a day.

Clothes and Diapering: Wearing 9 and 9-12 month clothes and size 3 diapers during the day and size 4 diapers at nighttime.

Social: So easily entertained. She gets so excited to see us! She loves peek a boo, playing with Bennett, bouncing on my knee, and airplane. Now that she is mobile, she is enjoying her toys much more. She crawls around checking everything out. She really enjoys Bennett's toys, much to his dismay.

Brooklyn just adores Bennett. She thinks he is just so hilarious. Sometimes he can get a little too rough with her and it upsets her, but for the most part, she lets him pretty much do whatever he wants with her. She is so tough with him.

She is starting to imitate sounds and "words." She consistently repeats mama or dada.

She is definitely experiencing some stranger danger. If Josh or I am around, it takes her a bit to warm up to new people. She also does not like it when we drop her off at daycare or church nursery. But, she gets over it quickly once we are out of sight.

Some of the new things she has been doing in the past two months: crawling, pulling herself up, lowering herself down, walking along furniture or toys (very little, maybe a step or two to transition to a new area), taking a few steps behind a walker at a time, getting more food actually IN her mouth rather than on her lap.....but she still prefers we feed her.

Likes: Peek a boo, sucking her thumb, boingy thingy's by doors, puzzles, books

Dislikes: getting dressed after a bath, waiting for a bottle, not getting attention
