Brooklyn {Six Months}

Six Months is a huge milestone, in my opinion. Six months is when life starts to get easier, especially now with two kids. How can it be that she is already 6 months? I honestly feel like I was just pregnant.......last week.

Length, Weight, Percentiles:
26.5" tall (76% for height) (was 25.5" at 4 mos)
16lbs 7.5 oz. (58% for weight) (was 14lbs 2.5 oz at 4 mos.)

What a little personality this one has

Features:
Brooklyn as two little teeth popping through on the bottom, and perhaps a third, but it hasn't made an appearance yet. She has been really good with teething so far, I don't notice any crankiness or pain.

Sleep:
This little one is sleeping through the night, not every night, but more consistently. She sleeps from 7:30 or 8 PM until 7 AM most nights. Once, maybe twice a week, she wakes up to eat but falls right back asleep.

She naps 2-3 times a day, one morning nap, one afternoon nap, and sometimes a mid-evening nap. Naps range in length from 30 minutes to 2 hours.

She is still a super baby and can easily put herself to sleep. Little miss has become quite the little thumb sucker, which is seriously so adorable!

She will self-entertain herself in the morning and we usually never have to wake her up. When we walk into her room, she always lights up like she has been awake and just hanging out.

Diet:
Officially 100% Formula as of last week. She eats 5-7 oz. every 3 hours. She also eats baby food once a day (if we remember and/or have the energy or time for it). She loves peas, carrots, and pears. She is not as big of fan of bananas.

Clothes and Diapering:
Wearing 6 month clothes, but could easily start wearing 9 month clothes. She is also wearing size 3 diapers.

Momma never gets any pictures with the kiddos, so this was a treat!

Social:
Still little miss chatty. She loves to babble and have conversations with herself or anyone who will talk to her. She can be somewhat loud, especially in quiet places, hmmm wonder where she gets that from?

She has become so enthralled with Bennett. She watches his every move and thinks he is just hilarious. Bennett also loves the attention and will easily continue what he is doing over and over and over if it gets a laugh out of her. She loves watching all kids in general though too. She still loves songs and it is her favorite activity.

Some of the things Brooklyn is doing: Rolling from back to belly, and belly to back. She will rotate herself in clockwise or counter-clockwise fashion. She is also starting to sit up. We typically need a boppy behind her, or have to sit next to her to just barely hold her back if she starts to fall forward or back.

Likes: Songs, Airplane, Peek-a-boo, Toys that sing or light up, playing with her feet, sucking her thumb

Dislikes: I am hard pressed to find something here. She pretty much loves life. I cannot think of one thing she dislikes......being hungry? that's typical and an easy fix. She rarely gets overtired because she will just fall asleep anywhere. She tends to get cranky after 7 PM, but we make it a point to try to be home with her. No one wants to be out with a cranky babe. She hates her shots.....but who doesn't? If I was guaranteed all my babies would be this happy and easy, I would have a million of them......

Brooklyn {Five Months}

Month 5 brought us so much more fun! Hard to believe it has almost been half  a year with this little angel. Honestly, I am about 10 days late from her turning 5 months old, so we are just about to Month 6 already. Brooklyn got baptised, her goopy eye finally cleared up, and she has been in daycare for 1 full month now.

Length, Weight, Percentiles:
No checkup until 6 months. Next time!

Features:
Pretty much the same. Still not growing much hair. But her goopy eye finally cleared up so that has been nice. She has the most beautiful smile (I know, I am biased) but just lights up for everyone. It is not hard to get her to smile at all. She is also still fairly long/tall.

Sleep:
Getting better. She is now consistently back to sleeping in her crib. She has some nights where she will sleep through the night, and some nights she will wake up once. When she sleeps through the night she will sleep until 6 or 7 AM, and 8:30-9 AM if she wakes up to eat during the night. She usually goes to be between 7-8 PM. If we would let her fall asleep at 6 or 6:30 PM, I am sure she would continue sleeping into the night.

She naps 3-4 times a day, usually for 1-3 hours at a time. Night naps are hit and miss, depending on how much she wants to fight it. But, if we put her in the car, she is immediately out.

She still does a great job putting herself to sleep and rarely needs her binky anymore.

Diet:
Drinking 5 oz. of breastmilk or formula. She will usually have a bottle of formula before bed or anytime we are out, it is easier to transport and mix up on the go. Nursing is hit or miss now that I am at work full time. Some days, I rarely nurse just because I pump 5 times a day.  She will usually eat about every 3 hours. We also started purees this past month! She has done great so far, but still getting the hang of swallowing. She has tried pears and carrots so far.

Clothes and Diapering:
Wearing size 3 diapers and 3-6 or 6 month clothes. She is so long that 6 month pajamas and pants are short on her. I am getting ready to move into 9 month jammies.

Social:
Brooklyn is a chatterbox. She loves to hear herself and can constantly be heard "AHHHHHHHHH" or gurgling. She has quite the volume also. It is adorable but difficult in quiet or social places. I am loving her little social personality already.

Brooklyn loves to listen to us sing,  and watch other kids play. She is getting more interested in toys, and is constantly examining them. She especially likes ones that make noise or sing and light up.

Likes: talking, cooing, her playmat, being sung to, being upright, bathtime, kisses, airplane

Dislikes: laying flat, being overtired, being hungry

Bennett Update {3 years old}

How has it already been 3 years with this little guy? It seems like only yesterday HE was the baby of the household. Bennett has had some big changes in the past 6 months, but he has been great. Bennett loves his baby sister so much. He tries so hard to love on her, but to be honest, sometimes it overwhelms her quite a bit! He will talk to her in a baby voice, and copy everything Josh or I say to her. Now that she is getting older, he is very interested in having her "play" with him, even though she can't sit up yet, I am constantly putting her in his jeep, or cozy coupe, or pretending to ride outside toys. He tries to share his toys with her, which is so sweet. And when she is crying or hasn't fallen asleep or is asleep, he informs us right away. You can tell her is very concerned about her and wants to help. Overall, we are getting used to having 2 kids, and I will honestly say, sometimes Bennett is more work.

Bennett hit his "three-nager" stage much earlier than when he actually turned 3. He is Mr. oh-so-independent. He wants to do everything by himself; put on his shoes, pull up/down his pants, buckle his seat, get in his seat, etc. He is SO particular on everything you do for him, for example, if you cut up/don't cut up his food (and he will always want it the exact opposite of what I just did for him though), how much drink he wants in his cup, he wants to get his own ice and pour his own drinks (which I do not allow....one or two messes later). He is very adamant on what clothes he wants to wear, and it is usually a combination of batman, superman, spider man, or some other superhero. When he does not get what he wants, or you do something "wrong" he throws a fit. We have had to get more persistent with discipline (although, he mostly just laughs at mom when I try to discipline).

Bennett has cut out his one and only nap of the day at this point. We were finding that by making him nap, he was wired at 8-9 pm and not ready for bed at all. So, without a nap he goes down much easier at 8 or 9 for bed. He typically sleeps from 8:30 pm to 6:30-7 am. When he does take a nap he will try to prolong taking a nap or going to bed for as long as he can. Some nights he gets up  multiple times to ask for 1 more show, 1 more snack, potty, song, story, etc.

Some of the things Bennett loves: Batman (or any superhero), cars/trucks, trailers, boats, Hot Wheels, Transformers, playing outside, swimming, being on the boat, puzzles, play-do, Legos, Paw Patrol

Some of the things Bennett hates: being told no, eating what we ask him to, going to bed, taking naps

Some of the things Bennett can do: tell us his birthday (it usually goes "14 Bennett August", Sing Twinkle Twinkle, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Wheels on the Bus, Jesus loves me, Count to 15 (sometimes he skips a few numbers, ride his bike (with training wheels)

Bennett is extremely social and loves to talk (wonder who he gets that from??) Sometimes, we just want him to be quiet! But, we love his social personality and know that's what makes him, him. He is curious about the world around him and is very friendly and loving. He wants everyone to be his friend and has no issues walking up to people to strike up a conversation.

This past spring, Bennett participated in Rounded Minds:Soccer and Spanish. We loved watching him participate and learn. However, a 3 year old soccer program can have its challenges. He (and all the other kids) quickly lost focus and we ended up chasing them down, but it was fun!

He also participated in Vacation Bible School this July. He loved VBS! He had so much fun with his little friends and again watching him participate and learn was awesome!

We are so excited to see what his 3 year old self will turn into. He keeps us busy! We love seeing how his little personality grows and develops. We would have never guessed how into super heros he would be, so I can only imagine what the next year will bring. It is so hard to believe in a year he will be going to preschool. I just love who he is and the funny things he says.

Here are a few more of my favorite pictures from the past 6 months. Enjoy!!
