{Friday Five}

Happy Friday!!!

Missed a Friday Five last week. Oops! I will blame it on not feeling well, because let's be honest, that is usually what is holding me back these days.

{ONE}
With babe #2 on the way, I have been giving a lot of thought to Bennett's big boy room. Currently, he is in his crib (with the side rail taken off, ie as a daybed), but soon we will need to transition him to a twin bed to use the crib again. My goal is to have Bennett's new room all finished by Christmas, so then after Christmas, we can focus on Nursery #2. After MUCH (and I say that emphatically because Josh and I agree on NOTHING when it comes to decorating our house), we found bedding for Bennett's twin bed.

Found at Kohls, and bonus: 15% off today!!!!

I got a good laugh out of this because I am SO horrible at laundry. I will start it one day, and it could literally take me days upon days to finish just one load. Josh, on the other hand, is always right on top of it, and he has to force me to do it. I HATE laundry!!! H-A-T-E

Also got a good laugh out of this one. The other day I bought a plaid shirt from Old Navy for $22. What a great deal! Well, you can only get free shipping if you spent $50, so naturally, I found a couple more items to buy. When I got home, Josh was baffled by this logic:) Instead of spending $30 ($22+$7 shipping), I decided to spend an extra $20, instead of saving $20. Yep!

Weekend plans: None! The rest of the crew is heading to Iowa City for the Hawkeye game, but I am SO looking forward to spending the day at home watching it on TV. I am babysitting Grace and Elin (along with Bennett), but so excited to be home. You have no idea how tired this girl has been!

{FIVE}

I made Chicken Strawberry Salad Wrap's a couple of times this past week for lunch. They were AHHHH-mazing. Recipe included in the link.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

{Fall Bucket List}

Fall is one of my favorite times of year. Not only is my birthday in the Fall (and everyone knows how much I love my Birthday), but I love everything about the colors, smells, and activities that are associated with Fall (Not to mention the Fall wardrobe, Hello Boots and Flannel!!! )

So far we have been able to check three items off of our Fall Bucket List. This past week, we visited Center Grove Orchard and had blast!!! They had so many fun activities for kids, including a Hay Rack Ride (Check and Check). We didn't do any apple picking though:(

We have also watched our fair share of football so far this Fall. High School, College, and NFL......this is a recurring event in our house.

{Friday Five}

Good Afternoon! The weather has cooled down A LOT in the past week. I am actually wearing a sweater today and it is hard to believe a week ago it was almost 100 degrees out! This cooler weather has me excited about fall everything! My birthday is in the fall, our wedding anniversary is in the fall, football consumes our life, it is just a great time of year! Don't get me wrong, I totally love summer and the warm weather but there is just something welcoming about 60 degree temps and changing everything up!

This weekend is the annual Iowa/Iowa State game. I have always been conflicted on who to root for. Typically, as long as either team is not playing each other, I root for both. But, when your family (and mostly husband) are Iowa Fans, things start to get a little hairy, especially when I pull this bad boy out! Can't wait for it to make its annual appearance tomorrow during the game!

I am CRAVING some Fall comfort food!

This past week I attended HopeKids Volunteer training. I am going to be volunteering for Kindergarten and 1st Grade Sunday School once a month for the 2015/2016 school year. Can't decide if I am more nervous or excited!

Saw this the other day and couldn't help but laugh.

The best part is that we (myself, Josh, Nate and Emily) were discussing this not long ago. Do you remember back when Yoga pants didn't exist? We do! I don't ever remember wearing yoga pants to and from class at ISU. It was always cotton sweatpants. As much as I love a pair of good yoga pants, I will take a pair of these any day!

{FIVE}
I am determined to get a pedicure this weekend. It has been months since I last went. Feeling very fallish, so something like these perhaps?

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Hawkeyes and Tailgating {Bennett Edition}

We took Bennett (and Morgan and Kaden) tailgating and to the Iowa Football game this past Saturday. I am sure this is the first, of what will most likely be many, Iowa football games for these kids!

Getting ready to go to Iowa City!

We brought Bennett's bike hoping it would help keep him entertained throughout the morning! He loved the wide open space to ride, until more cars came along.....

These boys.....my life!

My mom with her grandkids tailgating before the game

Waiting to go find our seats

Love love love this! Even though it only lasted about 2.5 minutes.

Grandma Kate and her favorite little guy!

This is what we spent the majority of the game doing. It was a hot HOT day out, so these kiddos (and mama's) enjoyed the shade.

Walking back, holding hands, after a Hawkeye win!!

{Friday Five}

Starting something new to add some content to this little blog o'mine. We all know how horrible at blogging I really am, so bear with me folks.

{ONE}
I am LOVING plaid right now. I just bought myself this cute little piece and cannot wait for it to arrive!

{TWO}
Speaking of fall, I am jumping on this bandwagon. Not sure how they are going to look, but I am pretty excited to try.

{THREE}
Fall means one thing in our household: FOOTBALL. We are going to be sweating our butts off tomorrow but hopefully the hawks can make it worth it and pull off Win #1!!! Wish us luck as we also attempt to bring Bennett. More to come on how that pans out later......

{FOUR}
Looking forward to this read. Our Small Group recently decided to do a girls study and guys study in addition to our group study. The girls are going to be reading this book, and I am very excited to jump in!

{FIVE}
We recently had Bennett's 2 year photo's taken. We got a little teaser of what's to come! I cannot wait to see the rest! If anyone is looking for a great photographer, I highly recommend Sarah McConnell

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

2 Years Old!!!

We have had such a great summer! June and July we stayed super busy and Bennett's birthday snuck right up on us in August. This post is about 2 weeks late, after his birthday but hey, we are a busy crew here!
Late June we attended an Icubs game. It was a hot night out and although we only made it through 5 innings, Bennett had alot of fun!

Especially, loving the snacks that come along with baseball games.

So presh!

Des Moines has a couple of splash pads located around the city. Unfortunately, for me, as a working mom, I don't get the chance to take Bennett to these as often as I would like. We were able to hit up one of the splash pads this summer one evening.

They had a great park too!

He is a climber!

On Bennett's 2nd birthday. We gave him a train table for his birthday.

I have gotten increasingly horrible at taking pictures. One, because Bennett just absolutely refuses to smile. He is well aware when my phone is out to take a picture. So unfortunately, I don't get to take as many pictures I would like.

Some of the other summer events we attended was 4th of July fireworks and The Jones County Fair, where Bennett successfully sat through an Eric Church and Tim McGraw Concert. Although, I think he enjoyed the games and rides on the midway much much more! We went swimming at the swimming pool one time this summer after work and that was a big hit!

Bennett is still wearing diapers, and although we talk about potty training, we are waiting until life slows down a little bit this fall to commit to it.

Mid-July we took the side off of Bennett's crib and he is now in a "daybed" with a bed rail. He WILL NOT crawl out of that bed either. Knock on wood it stays that way, but so far he has been an angel and just stays in his bed until we come get him!

Bennett is OB-SESSED, you guys, with a cartoon called Team Umizoomi. It is the first thing he asks for in the morning, and I know he is asking for it at daycare, and we usually give into a couple episodes after work or before bed. Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. It allows us to get some things done around the house, and he quietly sits and watches it:)

Other than these changes, pretty much everything I wrote in the last update holds true.

Hoping to get some of the pictures back from his birthday party and 2 year pictures to post soon!
Stay Tuned!
